Operating and Managing a Small Business

This course comprises 5 unit of study:

  • BSBTEC301 Design and produce business documents
  • BSBTEC302 Design and produce spreadsheets
  • BSBWHS307 Apply knowledge of WHS laws in the workplace
  • BSBESB403 Plan finances for new business ventures
  • ICTWEB306 Develop web presence using social media

The units are nationally recognised and may be used as credit towards further qualifications. On completion you will receive a Statement of Attainment.

Payment Plans

We understand that not everyone has the financial resources upfront to invest in training, so we offer a 9-week payment plan to get you moving faster towards your future.

  • An administration fee of $40is added for this option.
  • All you need is a valid credit or debit card
  • Pay first weekly instalment at commencement of course
  • Remainder to be paid over eight equal weekly instalments. Total of nine payments.

Concession pricing is available for eligible students as per the Student Handbook. Proof of concession must be provided at the time of enrolment; please contact us to apply for a concession rate when enrolling.

Refund Policy

Refer to the Student Handbook for our refund policy. This course includes a non-refundable administration fee of $250.

The maximum duration for this course is 6 months.

However, there is no minimum time frame. Students may complete the course much faster than the time allowed, depending on your ability, knowledge and time available. Study at a pace that suits your personal situation.

We understand that students study in different ways. For this course, we provide the following learning material and resources at no additional cost:

  • Digital course training manuals (non-editable and non-printable) for each unit of competency
  • Video tutorials for some units covering key learning concepts
  • Reference resources
  • Case studies
  • Practice exercises
  • Interactive learning material

All course content, including assessments, is accessed via our online student portal.

Note: Hard copy manuals are currently not available for this course.

To complete this course, you will need:

  • A computer with a reliable internet connection as all data files and learning activities are available via our student platform.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel (app versions, not the web-based versions)

Overview

Your learning journey is about becoming "competent" in the subject matter. Our in-house training and assessment team have business and accounting experience or are currently working in the industry. With this in mind, we aim to make the tasks relevant to what you will experience in the real world. The purpose is not to pass or fail, rather to become competent using these skills which you can then apply in the real world.

As the units in this course are nationally recognised, there are some mandatory requirements* that must be completed.

Pre-course

Before starting this course, you will be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) questionnaire*. This quick questionnaire is used to determine your LLN skill level so that we can best support you in your studies.

Introductory Requirements & Unit Assessments

The Introductory requirements include an Oral Communication Skills Assessment* and a Work Health and Safety Assessment*.

The Unit assessments and examinations are completed using a variety of methods and are submitted via our online student portal. They are open book, from either your home, office and comprise multiple choice, theoretical and practical exercises.
