Diploma of Payroll Services

FNS50422 Diploma of Payroll Services is assessed under the Principles of Competency-based training, students have to demonstrate their ability to do all activities in each Unit of Competency. There are 11 Units of Competency in this course.

• FNSPAY512 Process superannuation payments in payroll
• FNSPAY513 Process complex employee terminations in payroll
• FNSINC411 Conduct work according to professional practices in the financial services industry

MYOB Student Edition is included with this course. MYOB is used to complete 3 units - FNSPAY511 FNSPAY512, FNSPAY513.

The unit FNSTPB412 has course material and assessments in both Xero and MYOB. Students can choose which accounting software they would like to use to complete this unit.

Other units from an endorsed training package can be considered towards elective component on request.

If you have previously completed a Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Certificate IV in Accounting (FNS40211/FNS40215/FNS40615/FNS40217/FNS40222) you may be eligible for our Upgrade Package. Email us before enrolling to assist with assessing your eligibility for a credit transfer.

You will have up to 12 months to complete FNS50422 Diploma of Payroll Services.

As an online course, the time it will take to complete is flexible and dependent on your ability, knowledge and time available.

It is expected that students may need up to 1170* hours of study and assessment time, particularly those who are new to payroll, students familiar with the learning concepts may complete the course faster. It is important that you choose a pace that suits your needs.

All course content, including assessments, is accessed via our online student portal.

If required, hard copy manuals can be purchased at additional cost of $300 including postage.

Except for FNSINC411, purchased separately (approx. $65 ex postage) from an external publisher, full details are provided on enrolment.

Pre-course

Before starting this course, you may be required to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills assessment to ensure we can support you before your studies commence.

Introductory Requirements & Units

The Introductory Requirements include an Oral Communication Skills Assessment and a Work Health and Safety Assessment.

The Unit assessments and exams are completed using a variety of methods and are submitted via our online student portal. They are conducted open book at either your home or office, and comprise of theoretical and practical exercises.

MYOB unit assessments use MYOB Student version.

Exams

Some units include an exam component, which needs to be independently supervised. Exams are three-hour, open-book assessments comprising of short answer and multiple choice questions, very similar in format to the unit assessments.

Exams must be completed within your course duration period. Prior to your exam, you will need to complete and return the Supervisor Nomination Form to Applied Education detailing your supervisor's information, contact details and the elected date of your assessment.

Exams can be undertaken at any location and time of your choosing, with the only condition being that you have a nominated, independent supervisor present. Your supervisor can be a person of responsibility such as a registered tax agent, member of an accounting professional body, public servant, doctor, nurse, police officer, director etc. who does not have a close personal or professional relationship with you.

If you cannot arrange a supervisor then we offer the following options for conducting your supervised assessment:

To complete all units in this course, you will need:

• A reliable internet connection as all data files and learning activities are available via our student platform.
• A computer with a Microsoft Windows operating system.^#
• Microsoft Word and Excel.

We will provide links and instructions to access MYOB Student Edition Software and Xero Demo Company.

^# Mac Users, Tablets and MYOB
MYOB software cannot be downloaded to tablets including Chromebooks and since 2020, MYOB is not compatible with Apple’s operating system.

If you only have access to a Mac computer, we recommend you first contact Apple to confirm if the following options are feasible on your computer:

• purchase and install on your mac a windows emulator such as "parallels" to run windows on a Mac at your own cost; or
• use the free inbuilt Mac Boot Camp Assistant on your Mac computer and purchase a Windows OS software licence.

Note: Applied Education and MYOB are unable to support issues relating to a Mac computer.

Payment Plans

We understand not everyone has the financial resources upfront to invest in training, so we offer payment plans to get you moving faster towards your future.

• Pay a $250 deposit at commencement of course
• Remainder is paid over 6 or 12 equal monthly instalments, depending on the option selected.
• An administration fee of $100 applies for the 6 month option, and $150 for the 12 month option.
• All you need is a valid credit or debit card.

Concessions on Courses

Concession pricing is available for eligible students as per the Student Handbook. Proof of concession must be provided at the time of enrolment; please contact us to apply for a concession rate when enrolling.

Refund Policy

Refer to the Student Handbook for our refund policy. This course includes a non-refundable administration fee of $250.

Receive a 24-month student membership to the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (valued at $145).
