South Australian Government Funded TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment

In order to undertake training through South Australia Training Priority List, prospective students must meet the following eligibility criteria:

• be aged 16 years or over, and no longer at school
• live or work in South Australia
• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, or an Australian permanent resident, or a temporary visa type holder approved by SA government.
• Undertake all parts of the UAN (Upfront Assessment of Need) process. 

Students are required to complete their course within a specified time.

Student progress will be monitored and reported to the Department for Innovation and Skills (DIS). Students who persistently fail to participate in their course without explanation will be reported to the Department for Innovation and Skills (DIS).

Education Competency
Those entering this qualification must be able to demonstrate vocational competence in their proposed training and assessing area. Competence is defined as broad industry knowledge and experience, types of evidence students may provide on enrolment may include (but not limited to):

• Proof of vocational competency: Certificate or statement of attainment of relevant qualifications or units which they intend to teach
• Proof of work experience, e.g. resume
• Academic qualifications such as Bachelor’s/Master’s degree
• Certifications from workshops and seminars, etc.

Training requirements
To complete all assessments for is this course, you will need five (5) adult volunteers.

• Four adults to participate in group training and one additional adult, not part of the group training to participate in one-on-one training and assessment activities.
• Descriptions of volunteer tasks and requirements are explained for each unit on the Student Platform.
• For validation sessions you'll need two volunteers, one experienced, TAE-qualified person and another who is experienced in assessing. Alternatively, you can access Applied Education assessors with said credentials during weekly online Teams support sessions.

Training Workplace
While not mandatory, having access to a training workplace or RTO is highly beneficial to support you in competing this course as it provides exposure to:

• Training and assessment policies and procedures.
• Conducting group training sessions.
• Assessing students using National Training Packages.

TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is assessed under the Principles of Competency-based training, students have to demonstrate their ability to do all activities in each Unit of Competency. There are 12 Units of Competency in this course.

Online Self-Paced

You will have up to 12 months to complete TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

As an online course, the time it will take to complete is flexible and dependent on your ability, knowledge and time available.

Most learners will require 10-15 hours per week for learning and assessment, students familiar with the learning concepts may complete the course faster. It is important that you choose a pace that suits your needs.

The course content is accessed via our online student portal with comprehensive learning materials provided including:

• Digital course training manuals (non-printable and non-editable)
• Video tutorials covering key learning concepts
• Templates and supporting documents

If required, hard copy manuals can be purchased at additional cost of $279 incl postage. 

Overview

Your learning journey is about becoming "competent" in the subject matter. Our in-house course writers and assessment team have extensive training experience working in the industry. With this in mind we try and make the tasks relevant to what you will experience in the real world. The purpose is not to just pass or fail, rather to become competent using these skills which you can then apply in the real world.

Pre-course

Before starting this course, all individuals seeking access to subsidised training in South Australia are required to complete an Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN). The UAN is delivered via an online Teams Meeting. However, depending on your Proof of Vocational competency, you may be required to attend a face-to-face meeting at our Adelaide office.

In addition, you may be required to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills assessment to ensure we can support you before your studies commence.

Unit Assessments

All assessments must be completed within your course duration period.

The Unit assessments are completed using a variety of methods and are submitted via our online student portal. They are open book, from either your home, office, or classroom, and comprise theoretical and practical exercises.

To complete some assessments, you will need access to the following resources:

• 5 Adult volunteers to participate in various practical assessment activities.
• An experienced person with a TAE qualification to lead assessment validation sessions. Alternatively, you can book validation workshops with Applied Education's Assessor at no additional cost.

To complete all units in this course, you will need:

• A reliable internet connection as all data files and learning activities are available via our student platform
• A computer with Microsoft Word (full desktop version/app) and preferrable PowerPoint
• Basic skills in using Microsoft documents to create training related documents, PowerPoint Presentation etc
• Basic computer skills e.g. know how to download files, open and save documents.
• Resources for recording and sharing of audio/video files
• A digital device with webcam and microphone for online sessions with Trainer

Course Fees and Payment Plans

We understand not everyone has the financial resources upfront to invest in training, so we offer a 6-month payment plan to get you moving faster towards your future.

• An administration fee of $100 is added for this option
• All you need is a valid credit or debit card
• Pay a $250 deposit at commencement of course
• Remainder to be paid over six equal monthly instalments

Concessions on Courses

Concession pricing is available for eligible students as per the Student Handbook. Proof of concession must be provided at the time of enrolment; please contact us to apply for a concession rate when enrolling.

Refund Policy

Refer to the Student Handbook for our refund policy. This course includes a non-refundable administration fee of $250.

Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)
Do you already have training and/or assessing skills or experience? Put your skills and knowledge towards your formal Certificate IV in Training and Assessment qualification. With this option, you will be required to put together a portfolio of your work to demonstrate a good understanding of the learning outcomes in the course.

You will still be able to access all of the resources available to online self-paced students.

For many students, RPL is a more complex process than completing the self-paced study and doing the assessments, unless you have sound experience with well-documented evidence.

Credit Transfer (CT)
If you have completed a prior qualification, you may be eligible for credit transfers.

Education Pathway

On completing the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, students may be interested in moving into job roles involved in advanced training and assessment, design and development, and VET leadership. If so, they may move on to taking the TAE50122 Diploma of Vocational Education and Training.
