Advanced Diploma of Accounting

Prior to commencing this qualification an individual must have completed the following qualifications (or equivalent).

• FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting or
• FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting or equivalent, including the listed elective unit BSBTEC402 Design and produce complex spreadsheets* (or equivalent)

* If you have not completed BSBTEC402, we can still enrol you into the course however, you must complete this unit before starting your advanced diploma units.

FNS60222 Advanced Diploma of Accounting is assessed under the Principles of Competency-based training, students have to demonstrate their ability to do all activities in each Unit of Competency.

If you have completed the entry requirements, FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting (or equivalent), you may only have to complete 8 units.

You will have up to 12 months to complete the FNS60222 Advanced Diploma of Accounting course.

As an online course, the time it will take to complete is flexible and dependent on your ability, knowledge and time available.

It is expected that students may need up to 1220* hours of study and assessment time, particularly those who are new to accounting, students familiar with the learning concepts may complete the course faster. It is important that you choose a pace that suits your needs.

*Does not take into account credit transfers.

For all units, textbooks are required to be purchased separately from the publisher. Applied Education students receive a discount when ordering through our supplier, full details are provided with enrolment. The cost for these textbooks is approximately $80 for each unit of competency.

Pre-course

Before starting this course, you may be required to complete a Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills assessment to ensure we can support you before your studies commence.

Introductory Requirements & Units

The Introductory Requirements include an Oral Communication Skills Assessment and a Work Health and Safety Assessment.

The Unit assessments and examinations are completed using a variety of methods and are submitted via our online student portal. They are open book, from either your home, office or classroom, and include multiple choice quizzes, short answer, calculations and exams.

Accounting unit assessments use MYOB Student version or Xero (both are supplied). For accounting software assessments simply upload copies of reports as PDFs from within your accounting package.

Exams

Some units include an exam component, which needs to be independently supervised. Exams are three-hour, open-book assessments comprising of short answer and multiple choice questions, very similar in format to the unit assessments.

Exams must be completed within your course duration period. Prior to your exam, you will need to complete and return the Supervisor Nomination Form to Applied Education detailing your supervisor's information, contact details and the elected date of your assessment.

Exams can be undertaken at any location and time of your choosing, with the only condition being that you have a nominated, independent supervisor present. Your supervisor can be a person of responsibility such as a registered tax agent, member of an accounting professional body, public servant, doctor, nurse, police officer, director etc. who does not have a close personal or professional relationship with you.

To complete all units in this course, you will need: 

• A reliable internet connection as all data files and learning activities are available via our student platform. 
• Microsoft Word and Excel, or similar, are recommended.

Payment Plans

We understand not everyone has the financial resources upfront to invest in training, so we offer payment plans to get you moving faster towards your future. The Advanced Diploma of Accounting is eligible for a 6-month or 12-month payment plan.

• An administration fee is added for this option ($100 for 6 months or $150 for 12 months) and is spread over the instalments
• A $250 deposit is processed at the commencement of course
• Remainder is paid over 6 or 12 equal monthly instalments
• All you need is a valid credit or debit card

Concessions on Courses

Concession pricing is available for eligible students as per the Student Handbook. Proof of concession must be provided at the time of enrolment; please contact us to apply for a concession rate when enrolling.

Refund Policy

Refer to the Student Handbook for our refund policy. This course includes a non-refundable administration fee of $250.

Education Pathway

Depending on the university that you would like to attend, you may be eligible for credit towards entry to accounting & finance degrees.

For Curtin University, in Perth WA, on successful completion of FNS60222 Advanced Diploma of Accounting you can receive up to 225 credit points for admission into the Bachelor of Commerce. More information is available on the Curtin Search for CRL website (by selecting ‘TAFE – Any Australian TAFE’ in Q3 of the filter).
