Queensland Government Skills Assure provider

The Career Start Program is a Queensland Government initiative that provides a subsidy towards the training cost for eligible individuals starting their career with entry-level training such as a general qualification at certificate III level.

The program aims to help individuals find a job and support those already employed to move into more skilled roles or full-time employment, including after completing an apprenticeship or traineeship.

To access a subsidised training place under Career Start (General Training Pathway), a student must meet the following criteria:

  • aged 15 years or older;
  • not be a school student;
  • permanently reside in Queensland;
  • be an Australian citizen, or Australian permanent resident (includes humanitarian entrant), or a temporary resident with the right visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency, or a New Zealand citizen;
  • not already have a certificate III or higher qualification completed within the last 10 years (qualifications completed as a school student and foundation skills qualifications do not count);
  • not be enrolled in another qualification, even if it is on hold or deferred, whether funded by DTET or not (foundation skills qualifications do not count).

Certificate III in Accounts Administration

FNS30322 Certificate III in Accounts Administration course is assessed under the Principles of Competency-based training, students have to demonstrate their ability to do all activities in each Unit of Competency. There are 11 Units of Competency in this course.

  • FNSACC314 Conduct business activities using a computerised accounting system
  • FNSACC321 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports
  • FNSACC322 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers
  • FNSACC323 Perform financial calculations
  • FNSINC311 Work together in the financial services industry
  • BSBHRM416 Process Payroll
  • BSBTEC301 Design and produce business documents
  • BSBTEC404 Use digital technologies to collaborate in a work environment
  • FNSACC426 Set up and operate computerised accounting systems*

Xero is used to complete FNSACC426 and FNSACC322.
MYOB is used to complete FNSACC314, FNSACC321 and BSBHRM416.

Course Fees
This course is offered under the Career Start Program, a Queensland Government initiative:

  • $1,070.00 for Non-Concession and;
  • $808.00 for Concession
Payment Method
$250.00 of student Co-contribution fees will be collected upon enrolment.
Subsequent payment will be paid through a 6-monthly payment plan.
  • Non-Concession: $136.66/month for 6 months or;
  • Concession: $93.00/month for 6 months

You will have up to 12 months to complete the Certificate III in Accounts Administration. There is no minimum time frame to complete the course, therefore students may complete the course much faster than the allowed timeframe. Study at a pace that suits your personal situation.

The course may take up to 1200 hours of study and assessment time, particularly for those who are new to bookkeeping and accounting.

Digital course training manuals for the Cert III in Accounts Administration are included as part of the course at no additional cost.

The course content is accessed via our online student portal, with additional resources, extra learning materials and video tutorials and recorded lectures for units FNSACC321, FNSACC322, FNSACC323 and FNSACC426.

Please note that digital manuals are non-printable and non-editable. Hard copy manuals (except for units FNSACC426, FNSINC311) can be requested via email on enrolment.

Pre-course

Before starting this course, you will be required to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) questionnaire. This quick questionnaire is used to determine your LLN skill level so that we can best support you in your studies.

Introductory Requirements & Units

The Introductory Requirements include a Communication Skills Assessment and a Work Health and Safety Assessment.

The Unit assessments are completed using a variety of methods and are submitted online via our student portal. They are conducted open book from either your home or office, and comprise of multiple choice quizzes, short answer, and calculations.

Accounting unit assessments use MYOB Student version which is include in the price of the course.

MYOB software cannot be downloaded to tablets including Chromebooks and since 2020, MYOB is not compatible with Apple’s operating system.

If you only have access to a Mac computer, we recommend you first contact Apple to confirm if the following options are feasible on your computer:

  • purchase and install on your mac a windows emulator such as "parallels" to run windows on a Mac at your own cost; or
  • use the free inbuilt Mac Boot Camp Assistant on your Mac computer and purchase a Windows OS software licence.

Note: Applied Education and MYOB are unable to support issues relating to a Mac computer.
