A traineeship is a practical hands-on training program combining paid work with structured training aimed at achieving a nationally recognised qualification. If you would like to do a traineeship and study Accounts Administration, there are Participant Eligibility Criteria in order to receive funding. You must

For the trainee:

Course Fees

For South Australia approved trainees the course fees are:

  • $769.50 for non-concession
  • $118.75 for concession*

(RRP $1455)

* Concession pricing is based on eligibility for JobTrainer. This is in addition to the eligibility criteria for Traineeships.

JobTrainer Eligibility for Concession pricing

  • Participant is not employed and not enrolled in a secondary school; or
  • Participant is aged 16 to 24 years old and not enrolled in a secondary school; or
  • Participant is a prisoner in a South Australian correctional institution; or
  • Holds a current Commonwealth Government concession card:
    • Health Care Card; or
    • Pensioner Concession Card; or
    • Veteran Affairs Concession Card.

Payment Plans

The maximum duration that you will have to complete the Certificate III in Accounts Administration course, will be a the same as the duration of your traineeship contract. There is no minimum time frame, students familiar with bookkeeping and accounting concepts may complete the course much faster.

As an online course, the time it will take to complete is flexible and dependent on your ability, knowledge and time available. It is important that you choose a pace that suits your needs.

This course comprises 11 units that are studied in the following order:

  • BSBITU306 Design and produce business documents
  • FNSACC313 Perform financial calculations
  • BSBITU304 Produce spreadsheets
  • FNSACC304 Conduct business activities using a computerised accounting system
  • FNSACC311 Process financial transactions and extract interim reports
  • BSBFIA302 Process payroll
  • FNSACC416 Set up and operate a computerised accounting system
  • FNSACC405 Maintain inventory records
  • FNSINC301 Work effectively in the financial services industry
  • FNSACC312 Administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers

To complete all units in this course, you will need:

  • A reliable internet connection as all data files and learning activities are available via our student platform.
  • A computer with a Microsoft Windows operating system.#
  • Microsoft Word and Excel.

We will provide links and instructions to access MYOB Student Edition Software and Xero Demo Company.

# Mac Users, Tablets and MYOB
MYOB software cannot be downloaded to tablets including Chromebooks and since 2020, MYOB is not compatible with Apple’s operating system.

If you only have access to a Mac computer, we recommend you first contact Apple to confirm if the following options are feasible on your computer:

  • purchase and install on your mac a windows emulator such as "parallels" to run windows on a Mac at your own cost; or
  • use the free inbuilt Mac Boot Camp Assistant on your Mac computer and purchase a Windows OS software licence. For information regarding the Boot Camp Assistant software, please refer to Apple's support page; https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT201468

Note: Applied Education and MYOB are unable to support issues relating to a Mac computer.

Digital course training manuals (non-printable and non-editable) for the Certificate III in Accounts Administration are included as part of the course fees.

The course content is accessed via our online student portal, with extra learning materials and video tutorials for key learning concepts.

If required, hard copy manuals can be purchased at additional cost of $220 incl postage. Except for units FNSACC416 and FNSINC301 which are purchased separately (approx. $120 ex postage) from an external publisher, full details are provided on enrolment.

Overview

Your learning journey is about becoming "competent" in the subject matter. Pre-course

Before starting this course, there are two requirements that need to be completed. All individuals seeking access to a subsidised training place in South Australia are required to complete an Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN) after the Traineeship ID has been approved by Traineeship and Apprenticeship Services.

You will also need to complete a Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) questionnaire. This quick questionnaire is used to determine your LLN skill level so that we can best support you in your studies.

Introductory Requirements & Units

The Introductory Requirements include an Oral Communication Skills Assessment and a Work Health and Safety Assessment.

The unit assessments are completed using a variety of methods and are submitted via our online student portal. They are conducted open book from either your home or office, and comprise of multiple choice quizzes, short answer, and calculations.

Accounting unit assessments use MYOB Student version which is include in the price of the course.

The FNS40217 Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping is ideal for anyone looking to enter into the bookkeeping or accounting industries, and is also a TPB-approved BAS agent course.

It is the perfect preparation for anyone seeking a career as a professional bookkeeper, BAS agent or payroll officer. The course meets the education requirements of the Tax Practitioners Board for registration as a BAS agent, and covers topics such as:

  • Managing day to day bookkeeping function such as accounts payable and receivable.
  • Completing the Business Activity Statements (BAS) and other obligations such as Superannuation and Payroll.
  • Basic Management and Operational reporting such as Profit & Loss, Balance Sheets and Trial Balance.
  • Proficient use of Accounting Software including MYOB and Xero from setup to trial balance.
